A trip to the Fairground
When we talk about casinos or online casinos or internet casino games, we don´t automatically think of arcade games, and why should we! Arcade games are what you find at the fairground or on your games console at home, not in a casino.
Well, things have changed when it comes to online casinos. We have arcade games on the internet so why not implement these games in online casinos? This is exactly what some of the software providers for online gaming sites have been thinking of. Not every online casino has arcade games but if you look in your nearest Playtech internet casino you will find a host of arcade games for you to play.
Some of the most popular arcade games are now available for you to play on the internet. Bowling, Darts, Horse Racing, Heads and Tails and even Rock, Paper, Scissors are all available in some online casinos to be played as arcade games. Mental I know but there you have it.
Below are a few of the arcade games produced by the online casino software provider, Playtech. You can find these games in all Playtech casinos such as Mansion, 21Nova, EuroGrand, Casino Tropez, Vegas Red, Joyland Casino, Europa Casino and many more. |

Catchphrase - Say what you see! Catchphrase is a general knowledge quiz based on the cult TV show of the same name. The objective of the game is to win cash prizes by correctly answering a series of questions to complete visual puzzles which represent well known catchphrases.

How to play - Begin the game by pressing PLAY. Roy Walker himself will then greet you into the game. Choose the number of points to play for by pressing STOP on the player podium.
You will then be shown a visual puzzle, which represents a well-known phrase. You are then offered 3 letters and you must choose which one you think forms part of the catchphrase. To win this letter you must answer a general knowledge question from the following categories; Science and Nature, A-Z, Show Biz, Pot Luck, Sport, Pop Music and People & Places.
If you answer correctly the chosen letter is placed in the relevant position/s in the catchphrase. You will then be offered another three letters and the process is repeated until the phrase is complete.
Points and prizes - Once the catchphrase has been solved, you will be awarded points, which accumulate on a "Points Bar" leading to prizes. The "Points Bar" will increment across the bottom of the screen scrolling from left to right and eventually reaching collectable cash values.
Once a cash value has been reached, you may collect, or continue playing on for further prizes.
Penalties - If you choose a letter that isn't part of the catchphrase you lose a life. You start out with 6 lives, lose all of them and the game is over.
An incorrectly answered question will also result in "Game Over" unless you have a "Try Again" available (represented by 'Mr Chips' icons in the top right of the game screen). Try again will let you answer the question again. The game begins with one "Try Again" already awarded and a maximum of up to 3 can be collected at any one time via the mystery "?" symbol round.
Time Limit - You must take care to answer the questions within the time limit represented by the digital countdown just below the catchphrase board. Failing to answer within the time limit will result in GAME OVER.
If you fail to choose a points amount, letter or mystery symbol within the time limit one will be chosen at random for you.
Mystery ??? Symbol Options - Occasionally one of the letters will be replaced by a "?" mystery symbol. If you select a mystery symbol, you are offered a skill choice on one of the following outcomes;
- Add a letter: Adds a letter to the catchphrase.
- Complete Phrase: Completes the catchphrase on your behalf.
- Extra Letter: A letter is offered that may or may not be in the phrase.
- Extra Letters: A number of letters are offered that may or may not be in the catchphrase.
- Extra Points: Adds a bonus number of points to the point's bar upon completion of the current catchphrase.
- Super Try Again: Two try agains are added (up to a maximum of 3).
- Try Again: Adds one Try Again (up to a maximum of 3).
- Spot Prize: Awards the indicated prize.
- Catchphrase symbol: Deducts one symbol from the number required to win the progressive jackpot.
- Lose a Life: Deducts one life. If this was your last remaining life the game is over and any normal winnings are lost.
- Game Over: Terminates the game. Any normal winnings are lost.
Bonus Rolling Jackpot - Certain Points Values, Letters & Mystery Symbols randomly have a catchphrase symbol attached to them. These contribute towards winning the Rolling Jackpot. This is a bonus prize that is awarded if you collect the number of symbols indicated. Beware! Whilst selecting a letter with a symbol attached will reduce the symbols needed to win the jackpot the letter itself may not necessarily be part of the catchphrase. In this scenario you will lose a Life or maybe even the game if none are available. If the letter IS part of the phrase you will still be required to answer the subsequent question.
If you win the jackpot, you can still continue to play for further prizes. The rolling jackpot is never gambled, if won this is yours no matter what happens later in the game. The jackpot amount is shown in white on the right of the screen next to the catchphrase board.
Collecting / Game End - When you win a prize you have the option to collect or continue. You can also collect your current winnings at the letter selection stage by pressing COLLECT. By continuing you gamble your current normal winnings against potential bigger prizes further in the game. On pressing collect, winnings will automatically be added to your account.
The game ends under the following conditions:
- When you win the top prize as indicated on the points bar.
- Collect any winnings.
- Do not answer a question within the time limit. Normal winnings are lost.
- Lose all your lives (normal winnings are lost).
- Answer a question incorrectly when you have no try agains remaining (normal winnings are lost)
- Select the 'Game Over' mystery option (normal winnings are lost).
'Normal Winnings' means prize amounts won by progressing along the point's bar. Spot Prizes and the progressive jackpot do not count as normal winnings. If won these can never be lost and are automatically added to your account when the game ends.
Real Play/Demo Play - Demo play is designed to easily introduce you to the various features of the game. Therefore the difficulty of winning both jackpot and normal prizes may vary between Demo and Real Play.

Bullseye - Bullseye is a general knowledge quiz and skill based game themed around the classic TV show. The objective of the game is to win cash prizes by correctly answering a series of general knowledge questions then using your skill to throw darts on the prize board.

How to play - Begin the game by choosing your stake and pressing PLAY. Higher stakes hold the reward of bigger prizes. You are then shown the category selection board.
Category Board Round - The number of points needed to get to the prize board round is shown on the right. A crosshair circles the board. Use the AIM button in the bottom right of the game screen when the crosshair is within the category you would prefer to answer a question from. Choose from the following categories; A-Z, People, Places, Science, Nature, Showbiz, Pot Luck, Sport, Pop Music and Football.
The crosshair will then run up and down within the chosen category section. Choose the number of points to play for by pressing THROW. If you do not hit a lit segment you will be given a question from a random category. Correctly answer the question that follows to be awarded the points. Points are only awarded for for answering questions on lit segments. Continue until your 'Score Needed' shown in the bottom right is within an amount that can be achieved by 3 throws on a normal dartboard. When you reach this level the dart board round begins. If your dart lands outside the board you must correctly answer a random question to proceed but will not earn any points.
Dart Board Round - In the dart board round you must achieve the score needed using 3 darts. The board has sections numbered 1-20. The red central area is a bullseye worth 50 points. The green central ring is worth 25 points. There are also double (outer) and treble (inner) rings that if hit double or treble the points in a given section. For instance hitting a treble within the 20-point section will gain you 60 points. The optimum section to hit is always shown by a target. You must also end the dart board round by throwing a double or a bullseye (which counts as double 25). For instance if your points needed is 10 you must throw a double 5 to proceed to the prize board round.
If your dart lands outside the outer (double) ring or hits the wire frame you get zero points for that throw so accuracy is key! If you fail to achieve the score needed you will have to correctly answer a random question in order to earn another 3 throws. If you exceed the points needed or get to a position where you cannot finish on a double (e.g. 1 point left) this is a 'bust' and the points amount needed previously is restored and you must correctly answer another question to try again.
Prize Board Round - If you achieve the points needed in the dart board round (and finish on a double or bullseye) you will enter the prize board round. Here you are playing for cash prizes. The board is divided into red and black sections and you have 9 darts to throw. Each numbered red section has a cash prize associated with it as indicated to the right of the board. Only one action is required, throw the dart when a red section is highlighted.
Hitting a red section pays the corresponding prize. You can collect your winnings and end the game or continue to play on for further prizes. If you hit a black section or a red section that you have hit previously you will not earn a further prize and will be required to correctly answer a question to continue.
Prizes accumulate and the game automatically ends after you have thrown all 9 darts.
Penalties - An incorrectly answered question will result in "Game Over" unless you have a "Try Again" available (shown in the bottom right of the game screen). Try again will let you choose another answer to the question.
Time Limit - You must take care to answer the questions within the time limit in the bottom left of the game window. If you fail to answer on time the game is over. If you fail to aim or throw a dart within the time limit the dart will be thrown randomly.
Bullseye Bonus - There are 3 bonus types within the game that can be used to help you when faced with a question;
- Pass: The current question is replaced with a substitute.
- Reveal Answer: The question is answered correctly for you.
- Try again: Lets you try again if you have answered incorrectly.
The game starts with 1 of each bonus type available. You can gain additional bonuses by completing the Bullseye name above the boards. Every time you hit a bullseye on the category, dart or prize board a letter in the name will light up. When all the letters are lit one of the 3 bonus features is randomly awarded. Up to 3 of each can be held at any time.
Rolling Jackpot - Occasionally a 'Bully' symbol will appear on the boards. If you hit these they contribute towards winning the rolling jackpot. This is a bonus prize that is awarded if you collect the number of symbols indicated in the top left of the game screen. If gained from the category screen, or from a black section, or a previously hit red section on the prize board you will be required to answer a question to proceed. If you win the rolling jackpot, you can still continue to play normally for further prizes. The rolling jackpot is never gambled, if won this is yours no matter what happens later in the game. The jackpot amount is shown to the left of the game screen.
Collecting - You can collect your current winnings in the prize board round by pressing COLLECT. When you win a prize you have the option to collect or continue. If you continue then you gamble your current normal winnings against potential bigger prizes further in the game. On pressing collect, winnings will automatically be added to your account. The game ends under the following conditions;
- When you have thrown all 9 darts in the prize board round. Any winnings are automatically added to your account.
- Collect any winnings.
- Do not answer a question within the time limit. Normal winnings are lost.
- Answer a question incorrectly when you have no try agains remaining. Normal winnings are lost.
'Normal Winnings' means prizes won on the prize board. The rolling jackpot does not count as a normal prize. If won this can never be lost and is automatically added to your account when the game ends.
Real Play/Demo Play - Demo play is designed to easily introduce you to the various features of the game. Therefore the difficulty of winning both jackpot and normal prizes may vary between Demo and Real Play.
