DRAW POKER
Players are singly dealt 5 cards each and the betting starts. Players can drop out of the game if they feel their cards are no good. Once the betting has stopped, each player has a chance to discard any of his cards and claim or Draw new cards from the deck. More rounds of betting take place where players have the opportunity to drop out or play. When all the betting is done, players compare hands and the winner takes all.
FIVE CARD STUD
This variation is very popular in America, it is the game that most daring players play. It involves a little more nerve and judgement than the other variations as every player can see 4 cards of every other players hand.
Each player is dealt a card face-down and one face-up. Players then inspect their face-down card and leave it hidden from the others. The player with the highest face-up card starts the betting of folds his hand. After the betting, players are dealt anoth face-up card and the player with the highest scoring cards opens the second round of betting. The process is repeated twice more with the betting rounds. Now all players should have 4 face-up cards and one face-down card, the "Hole Card". One more round of betting takes place before the players reveal their hole cards. Whoever has the best hand takes the pot.
STRIPPED DECK POKER
Played the same as Draw or Five Card Stud but with all the low cards removed - twos to fives. This increase the chance of getting a good high scoring hand. |
