Yeeee Haaaaa! Howdy Partners, Time for some serious poker!
Without doubt the most popular of poker games, Texas Hold'em has grabbed the world by the horns and made everyone take notice. Special poker sites have multiplied over tha last few years just for Texas Hold'em. There are special competitions all over the world and many of them can be seen live on T.V. No other casino game has had as much impact as Texas Hold'em and surely there is more to come.
For those of you unfamiliar as to which of the poker games Texas Hold'em is, well, this is the game where players get 2 cards and players have to make a 5 card hand from the 5 cards (the community cards) that are revealed by the dealer.
To explain a little bit more about Hold'em
Players are dealt 2 cards each. The player to the left of the dealer posts the small blind and the player to his/her left posts the big blind. The blinds are bets to get the pot started.
All the other players make a decision whether to play or not. Those who wish to play place the same value as the big blind and those who donŽt want to play, fold. Players can raise the betting if desired and those willing to stay in the game will have to match the raise.
Once the betting is over, the dealer takes one card off the top of the deck and discards it. The dealer then deals 3 cards, known as the "Flop", in the middle of the table. Betting continues as before and when the betting is over, the dealer discards another card and turns over another card in to the middleof the table. This card is called the "Turn" card.
Another round of betting takes place before the dealer turs over the last community card known as the "River" card. Those who are still playing have one more round of betting. At the end of the betting players show their cards and the player with the best hand takes the money from the pot.
Texas HoldŽem games donŽt always get played til the end as some players will drop out, leaving one player to take the pot without showing their hand. The game is alot about bluffing and the only thing you need to know is when someone is bluffing or not. That is what makes HoldŽem so interesting to play.
